Officer Charged With Murder of PC Gilkes

A police officer has been charged with the murder of PC Clarence Gilkes and another charged with shooting at an unarmed man with intent to cause harm.

According to a statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service the officers were charged today, Saturday, in relation to shooting incidents at Rich Plain, Diego Martin, which resulted in the death of PC Clarence Gilkes.

TTT News understands that on August 5th, Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC, advised that Police Constable 28 year old Kristian Genty and Woman Police Constable 30 year old CRYSTAL WILLIAMS-BOWMAN be jointly charged with shooting with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

PC KRISTIAN GENTY has been charged for the murder of PC Clarence Gilkes.

Both police officers were both on suspension and were last attached to the Western Division Task Force.

WPC WILLIAMS-BOWMAN was granted bail with a surety in the sum of $500,000. PC Genty has been remanded into custody.

On April 22, 2022, while at Upper Rich Plain Road, Diego Martin,
PC Gilkes was shot during a police exercise. He died while undergoing treatment at the st James Medical Health facility.
