Rush hour traffic in and around Port of Spain was exacerbated this afternoon as efforts were made to clean up an oil spill on the Eastbound lane of Wrightson Road.
The spill at the intersection of Ana Street, Woodbrook forced some motorists to take alternative routes as Police Service and Fire Service responded to the scene.
The incident involving an oil tanker is said to have happened some time around 1pm and resulted in the road way between Ana Street and Luis Street covered with oil.
Up until news time, the Westbound lane was turned into dual carriage to help ease traffic flow.
Responders are advising motorists to avoid the area.
