Online Courses For 10,000 East PoS Students

A former pannist for Laventille Sound Specialist and the Carib Tokyo Steel Orchestra in the 1980s is giving back to the community, with the aim of affording 10,000 individuals free online tuition courses over the next five years.

Chief Executive Officer of Bismarck Technology and Learning Institution Ltd, Carol Sarwansingh-Jadoonanan, who grew up playing the pan from age five, said she’s inspired to ensure children in Laventille, Beetham Gardens, Sea Lots, John John and environs have the best chance to achieve success.

The handing over ceremony took place at the Tokyo Steel Orchestra panyard on Saturday.

“Despite the stigma of these individuals have upon them because of a few bad apples caused over the years, I would like to help the communities by giving back free online tuition in information technology courses, which will be Microsoft package and the reason is because I would like to reduce that inequality. Meaning poverty can lead to crime, could lead to social issues, lack of health and Lack of education.”

And although the free online courses are geared towards children, Mrs Sarwansingh-Jadoonanan said there’s no age barrier.

“The online tuition for the residents in John John communities and environments, we are looking at 10,000 individuals over a period of five years. There is no age barrier, where most programmes we see is from the ages of 18 to 35. I have take that beyond that meeting in fact to that young people at the age of five, four, once they are capable, they could learn some form of technology classes with us”
