A call for all organisations to take the necessary precautions to mitigate against rising ransomware attacks in Trinidad and Tobago is being made by the Ministry of National Security’s Trinidad and Tobago Cyber Security Incident Response Team (TT-CSIRT).
In a release, the Ministry said the TT-CSIRT website, ttcsirt.gov.tt, has an available guide and checklist that details the necessary actions that must be taken to harden organisations.
If an organisation falls victim to a ransomware attack, they are being urged to contact TT-CSIRT immediately via their online form or an email to contacts@ttcsirt.gov.tt.
The response team is also assuring that information provided to them will be held securely and in strictest confidence.
Ransomware is a type of malware from crypto-virology that threatens to publish the victim’s personal data or permanently block access to it unless a ransom is paid off.
