Over $1.8 Million Worth Of Cannabis Seized At Cunupia Supermarket

Police seized over $1.8 million worth of cannabis and arrested one suspect during an intelligence-led operation in Cunupia yesterday.

Between 3pm and 6pm on Wednesday 20th November, 2024, officers acting on received information, conducted surveillance on a supermarket located at Cereza Circular, Cunupia. The officers then entered the establishment where they met a 37 year old man and proceeded to search the premises.

While searching the rear of the storeroom, they discovered a transparent crocus bag containing multiple packets of cannabis. The 33 packets seized had a combined weight of 17 kilogrammes, with an estimated street value of $1,865,699. The man was arrested and taken to the Arima Police Station for processing, along with the illegal narcotics.

The operation was coordinated by ACP Singh and W/Snr. Supt. Maynard-Wilson, and supervised by W/Sgt. Ramai, in collaboration with the Arima Operations/Intelligence Team.
