An intelligence-led operation conducted in the Western Division on Friday 6th December 2024 has resulted in the seizure of over $4.6 million worth of cannabis and the arrest of two suspects.
The operation, conducted between 3pm and 9pm yesterday, was initiated by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Suzette Martin, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rishi Singh, and Senior Superintendent Michael Pierre. It was coordinated by Superintendent Gift, directly supervised by Sgt Ag Dardaine, and carried out by members of the North Central Division Gang and Intelligence Unit (NCDGIU), with support from the Western Division Task Force and North Central Division Task Force -Area West.
The operation focused on the Maraval Police District and involved the execution of two search warrants at the premises of individuals. During the operation, the officers seized two firearms, a large quantity of cured cannabis, multiple cannabis plants and growing mechanisms. The items seized include:
• 22.68 kgs/50lbs local hydro marijuana-estimated value $2,038,750.56
• 62 local hydro marijuana seedlings- estimated value $31,000
• 83 local hydro fully grown marijuana trees- estimated value $925, 887
• 188 local hydro marijuana cured trees-estimated value$1,689, 969.60
The total street value of the cannabis seized amounted to $4,685,607.16
Two suspects, a 39 year old man from La Seiva Road, Maraval and a 26 year old from Saddle Road, Maraval, were arrested for the offences of Possession of Firearms, Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Trafficking and Cultivating Cannabis.
