The final report from the Commission of Enquiry into the February 25th, 2022 tragedy that claimed the lives of four LMCS divers has been pushed back to May.
The month of April had been cited as the deadline, when Chairman To the Commission Jerome Lynch, KC, was expected to deliver the report to the Office of the President.
However, a statement signed by the secretary to the commission indicated that the delivery of “Salmon letters” will effectively push back the delivery date to sometime in May.
Salmon letters are letters to be served to those affected, which contain criticisms of individuals and/or entities who were questioned at the Commission.
The Commission said: “The law requires us to issue “Salmon” letters,,, and these have as much detail of the Criticisms, as would allow them to properly make representations, if they so wish for our consideration.”
The delay,, is Unavoidable as the letters won’t be ready before April 28th, 2023.
