The body of missing LMCS diver Rishi Nagassar has been recovered.
A statement from the Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited confirmed that Mr. Nagassar’s body was recovered at 12:36am today, Thursday March 3rd 2022, and his family was informed.
It stated, “The recovery had to be conducted with extreme care given the fact that the bodies were lodged behind diving equipment in a 30-inch pipeline, 60 ft below the surface and more than 100 ft along the seabed.”
Mr. Nagassar, along with LMCS divers Fyzal Kurban, Yusuf Henry, Kazim Ali Jnr., and Christopher Boodram, were conducting underwater maintenance on a pipeline located at No. 36 Sealine riser on Berth No. 6 at the Paria facility in Point-a-Pierre on Friday, when an incident occurred causing them to be sucked into the 30-inch pipeline. One diver, Christopher Boodram, was rescued later that evening. The bodies of Fyzal Kurban, Yusuf Henry, and Kazim Ali Jnr. were recovered on Monday evening.
In its latest statement, Paria extended condolences to the families and loved ones of the four divers and offered counseling support. It also thanked the emergency response team, the Paria Incident Management Team and external agencies for their support.
