The Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley defended the salary offer to public servants at a meeting in Arima on Tuesday night.
Even though the country’s finances have become better, Dr. Rowley said the country needs to stick within its means in light of the present economic conditions.
The PM said they have to give public servants a reasonable offer, one which will not necessitate going to the International Monetary Fund, shaping our budget to what is available.
Dr. Rowley says the Government’s goal is first and foremost to keep jobs, second, to have the ability to pay salaries and then and only then, improve earning capacity.
