Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley says natural gas will provide the energy needed to assist in rebuilding economies as the world emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Prime Minister’s statement came during his address at the Sixth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Doha on Tuesday.
Dr. Rowley said as a country impacted by the pandemic, Trinidad and Tobago can identify with the theme for this year’s Summit, “Championing Natural Gas For Post-COVID-19 Recovery And Sustainable Development.” Prime Minister Rowley said the pandemic affected this momentum by delaying the implementation of new upstream projects. He added, however, that recovery is on track.
The Prime Minister and a delegation, which included Energy Minister Stuart Young, left for Qatar last Friday for the Sixth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum. The Summit began on February 20th and ended today, Tuesday.
