PM Rowley Defends T&T Coast Guard

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley continues to defend the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard following a recent incident at sea where an infant was killed in a vessel allegedly carrying undocumented migrants.

On Saturday, the TTCG was patrolling Trinidad’s Southern border and tried to pursue the vessel, which led to several shots being fired by the Coast Guard.
Dr. Rowley reiterated that this country is under constant penetration from other countries, where arms, ammunition, women and drugs are filtered through. He said while the incident has caused sadness, the Coast Guard has a responsibility to protect the perimeter of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Prime Minister was speaking at the official opening of a 25 metre Swimming Pool in Maloney on Thursday which he said will continue to get youths in the area involved in sporting and recreational activity.
