Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has called on Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar to cease from making statements about the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard, which he says are untrue.
The Prime Minister addressed the matter during Friday’s sitting of the House of Representatives, when he was questioned by the Opposition about apparent inhumane treatment of Venezuelans by the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
During his response, Prime Minister Rowley reminded that the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard’s job is to protect the borders of this country.
The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to update on ongoing communication between this country and Venezuela following the accidental shooting death of a one year old last weekend during an operation to prevent the illegal entry of a boat of Venezuelan migrants into the country.
