Investigations are ongoing into a police-involved shooting incident which left one man dead this morning in Blanchisseuse.
According to police, at around 4am, officers on patrol attempted to stop a suspicious-looking vehicle in the area and when the vehicle stopped, two persons exited the vehicle and opened fire on the officers.
The second person collapsed after being shot and was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he died. Police said the man, identified as Meschach Gibson of La Fillette Road, Blanchisseuse, was known to them.
Meanwhile, the Acting Commissioner of Police, who commended the officers for their commitment to the job, offered some support.
