Acting Senior Superintendent at the Port of Spain Division, Neil Brandon-John, is reminding the public that it is not Carnival as usual, but Carnival during a pandemic.
On Friday, ASP Brandon-John said his officers are ready. He said they will be using the watchwords “conform” and “comply” to ensure all Safe Zones are managed effectively during the Carnival season.
ASP Brandon-John said all activities, except for the pan events, will take place in the North Park and Grand Stand areas of the Queen’s Park Savannah, which are enclosed.
Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Daniel Moore sent a very strong message to those planning Pop Up events in their communities over the next couple weeks. ACP Moore said people with Firearm User’s Licenses who wish to attend the events should leave their firearms at home.
He said vendors should not purchase raw materials as there will be no sales conducted outside of the venues.
Events at the Queen’s Park Savannah will begin tomorrow, Saturday 19th, and continue until March 5th.
Other designated Safe Zone venues are Queen’s Hall in Port of Spain and the Naparima Bowl in San Fernando.
