Nicholas Pooran was picked up by the Lucknow Super Giants for 16 crore or around US$2 million at the Indian Premier League Auction earlier today.
The West Indies wicketkeeper attracted interest from Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals but eventually went to the new kids on the auction block.
It’s a great end to a year that proved difficult for the former West Indies captain. Pooran stepped down from the T20 captaincy after the regional side failed to advance from the first round of the World Cup. He still managed to rack up 306 runs in IPL 2022 at an average of 38.25. He followed up with a Player of the Tournament total of 345 runs in the Abu Dhabi T-10.
