Efforts are underway for this country to have a Carnival celebration in 2022.
Chairman of the National Carnival Commission, Winston Gypsy Peters, says there was a stakeholder meeting on Friday with the NCC, the pan fraternity, band leaders, and other stakeholders.
The meeting was to come to a consensus on what might be possible for next year’s Carnival activities. Discussions included taking a look at the success of the 2021 Miami Carnival celebrations. Mr. Peters says a consensus was reached and a proposal will be presented to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, Randall Mitchell, for him to take to Cabinet.
He adds that the possibility is for a Safe Zone area for fully vaccinated people to have a scaled-down Carnival.
