Presentation College San Fernando maintained their lead at the top of the Powergen Secondary Schools’ Cricket League standings after a comprehensive win over Fatima College.
Batting first, Pres got off to a flyer and were poised at 51 without loss after five overs. However, Fatima got aggressive batter Khaleem Mohammed for 38, which put the Southerners on the back foot. Second-placed Fatima controlled the next period of play as Pres were caught toiling at 148 for 6. But some late order flourishes from Ricardo Chase and Aiden Racha who scored 38 and 36 respectively led Presentation to 231 for 9 at the end of their 50 overs. Zachary Siewah the pick of the bowlers for Fatima, taking 2 for 33.
Fatima also had a solid start at 53 for 1. Joshua Davis steadied the ship, hitting 71 but lacked support at the other end. Khaleem Mohammed starred once more, breaking the back of the Fatima batting, grabbing 5 wickets for 12 runs with his off spinners. Brendon Boodoo supported with 2 for 27.
At the close of play, Fatima could only manage 168 as Pres claimed victory by 63 runs, leaping closer to the SSCL premiership title.
