Archbishop Desmond Tutu was commemorated by the Anglican Church on Monday evening in a ceremony full of meaningful memories for all.
The President of Trinidad and Tobago, Paula-Mae Weekes, paid homage by remembering Tutu’s purpose and the enduring hope he had for racial harmony.
She noted that his love for the people inspired him to build a legacy which will endure.
The President said that even in retirement Mr. Tutu worked tirelessly, bridging a critical gap between black and white, rich and poor, powerful and disempowered, advancing the issues of equality and fairness. She recalled it was he who said we can only be prosperous together, we can only survive together, we can only be human together.
