Princes Town Man Charged With Neighbour’s Murder

A 55 year old man is expected to appear virtually before a Princes Town Magistrate tomorrow, charged with the murder of his neighbour, Devindra Narinesingh, which occurred on Tuesday 5th October, 2021.

Ian Beharry, of Friendship Road, Princes Town, was charged with the offence on Tuesday 14th December, 2021, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs. Joan Honore-Paul, on that same date.

Narinesingh, 37, a mechanical technician, also of Friendship Road, Princes Town, was in his garden on Tuesday 5th October, 2021, when he was shot in the abdomen by a gunman. He was taken to the Princes Town Health Facility for treatment where he died. The accused was subsequently arrested by police in connection with the incident on Sunday 14th November, 2021.

Investigations were supervised by Insp. Maharaj, Sgt. Elvin and Cpl Bridgemohan, all of Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region 3, while Beharry was charged by WPC Stacy Ann George, also of HBI Region 3.

Investigators were assisted by officers of the Southern Division.
