Approximately 41 prison officers have been caught trafficking contraband in the country’s prisons over the past five years.
Commissioner of Prisons, Dennis Pulchan, said he hopes the Judiciary fast tracks the process of dealing with the perpetrators.
Mr. Pulchan said the prison officers who are caught are often suspended with pay.
He said the Public Service Regulations need to change in order to address these issues.
