The work of the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service is valued and has not gone unnoticed, according to Minister of Public Utilities Marvin Gonzales.
Member of Parliament for Princes Town, Barry Padarath, said the Met Service has been neglected over the years but the Minister said this is not the case.
The comments were made by MP Padarath as he pointed out a significant increase in the allocations to the Met Service during the Standing Finance Committee’s examination of the 2023 expenditure.
Ten million dollars has also been allocated for the construction of a new building to house the entire Meteorological Services Division. It is expected that the building will be complete in 24 months.
Minister Gonzales was questioned by MP Padarath on the need for an increase in allocations for repair and office equipment as the new building is being constructed.
