The Windies Women were left limping last evening as rain spoilt what may have been an entertaining ICC World Cup match against the Proteas in Wellington.
Instead of a classic both teams earned a single point each from the abandoned match.
A soggy outfield resulted in a delayed start to the match between the Windies women and South Africa women. When the match did get going, the windies were clinical in their approach.
South Africa were dealt a nuclear blow when they lost run machine Laura Wolvaardt, dismissed for three in the second over. Her fellow opener Lizelle lee was caught shortly after in the third over for 9.
The Caribbean ladies continued their mission when captain Sune Luus went on her way for just one run a few balls later. Chinelle henry grabbed her thrid when she had another top order anchor Tazmin Brits sent packing for 1. Mignon Du Preez countered with 38 not out when the heavens opened for a final time, calling an end to play with the Proteas on 61 for 4 in 10.5 overs. Chinelle Henry the pick of the bowlers snatched 3 for 19 in what may possibly be the last match for the Caribbean ladies in New Zealand.
