The process toward a rate review by the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission – T&TEC and the Water and Sewerage Authority – WASA has begun.
Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales said the move is necessary to improve the financial circumstances of both utilities.
He said the Ministry is yet to submit their operational plans and he expects these will be approved by the Cabinet by the end of the year.
He is however assuring that the most vulnerable will be protected once the new rates take effect.
Speaking at the launch of the refurbished Pitch Road Booster Station, Minister Gonzales he outlined how much it costs taxpayers each year to run WASA.
