Registration for Chutney Soca Monarch 2023 ends on Tuesday January 3rd.
Chief Executive Officer of Southex Management Company, George Singh, said registration is ongoing.
The Semi-Finals will be held on January 27th, with the Finals carded for February 4th.
Mr. Singh, whose company, Southex, manages the event, said there is no limit to the number of registrants, adding that current contestants hail from the Netherlands, New York, Canada, and Suriname.
The event was held virtually over the past two years, but a hybrid version will be offered to patrons this year so that international audiences can view the live event from abroad.
While some have argued that the $147 million allocated to this year’s Carnival is not enough, Mr. Singh believes it is a good investment into a billion-dollar industry.
