Remembering The Victims Of The 1990 Attempted Coup

President Christine Kangaloo, Speaker of the House of Representatives Bridgid Annisette-George, and Senate President Nigel De Freitas were among several officials paying tribute to those who lost their lives during the July 27th 1990 Attempted Coup.

The annual Wreath Laying Ceremony took place on Monday evening, just outside of the Red House.

At least eight people who lost their lives while stationed at the Red House or in close vicinity were remembered. During the short ceremony, their names were called, remembering Leo Des Vignes – Member of Parliament for Diego Martin Central, Roger George – Assistant Superintendent of Police, Lorraine Caballero – Clerical Officer, Malcolm Bassanta – Estate Policeman, Mervyn Teeg – Government Broadcasting Unit, Arthur Giusseppi – Former Police officer, George Francis – Chauffeur, and Solomon Mc Cleod – SRP.

The officials also observed a minute of silence for those who lost their lives at the Red House.
