Defending Junior Panorama 2024 champions, Renegades Youth Steel Orchestra, have topped the National Junior Panorama 21 and Under category qualifying round.
The 12-time Junior Panorama Under-21 champions’ performance on January 24th earned them 277 points for their vibrant and powerful performance of the 2024 Carnival hit song ‘Inventor,’ sung by Olatunji Yearwood. The song was arranged by five-time champion arranger Andrew Charles.
First Citizens Supernovas Youth Band placed second with a score of 275 points. The band performed a Neil Simon arrangement of ‘Energy Killers,’ sung by Kerwin Du Bois.
Third place saw a tie between the Shell Invaders Youth Steel Orchestra, with a Rashaun Myers Williams arrangement of Lord Kitchener’s ‘Pan in A Minor,’ and Fonclaire Juniors playing an Adana Pompey arrangement of Nadia Batson’s ‘Everytime.’ Both bands earned a score of 274 points.
Twelve Junior Steelbands will battle for glory at the Finals of the National 2025 Junior Panorama competition, featuring Primary and Secondary Schools and Under-21 Youth Bands, on Sunday February 2nd at the Queen’s Park Savannah.
The Renegades Youth Steel Orchestra will attempt to secure their 13th Junior Panorama title . If successful, they will join their senior band, the bp Renegades Steel Orchestra, in holding the most Panorama victories.
