The Runnemede Village Street Road Restoration Project in Tobago is nearing completion.
The restoration entails constructing a retaining wall that promises to restore safety, security, and road stability for residents.
An update on Tuesday from the Development Team of the Division of Infrastructure, Quarries and Urban Development of the Tobago House of Assembly said 30 metres of the retaining wall has been completed, marking 60% progress on this critical project. Once finished, it is hoped that the wall will provide residents with peace of mind and improved living conditions just in time for the festive season.
Project Quantifier, Petunia Kennedy-Lewis, is hopeful that the project will positively impact the community.
“Some of the challenges that the villagers would have been facing, one particular resident, her home would have been threatened 100%, and some of the villagers were unable to have access of materials even their own grocery coming into their home. This construction will now provide an ease to the residents of this village. The development workers, I must say thank you for their hard work, their efforts, their time because we would have been working overtime.”
