Keate Street in San Fernando will now be known as Torrance Mohammed Street.
The former Deputy Mayor of San Fernando and national cultural icon was honoured posthumously by the San Fernando City Corporation with the renaming of the street on Friday.
On his Facebook page, San Fernando Mayor, Junia Regrello said it was a good way to end this year’s City Week.
The street is located at the bottom of the San Fernando General Hospital, formerly the lower half of Keate Street and the entrance to Naparima Bowl.
He was a well-known choreographer and founding member of the Arawak Dance Group, San Fernando Arts Council, and the National Dance Association of Trinidad and Tobago.
