Teaching the younger generation about the sacrifices and contributions made by their East Indian forefathers. This was one of the objectives as the Sant Nagar Hindu Temple in Sangre Grande celebrated its 85th anniversary with a parade to coincide with Indian Arrival Day.
On Tuesday, members of the Ram Leela Committee attended the march dressed in their traditional wear alongside the various youth and women’s groups, and members from other temples.
Pundit Bhownath Maraj said it was important for them to celebrate such a milestone. He said the children are very aware of their traditions, adding that the Sant Nagar Temple ensures that young people are educated about their customs.
The Sant Nagar Hindu Temple is affiliated with the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS).
