A Santa Cruz man has been remanded into custody after answering charges related to the attempted assassination of Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Sherwin Bruce and his daughter.
Twenty two year old Emmanuel Joseph, a labourer of La Canoa Road, was also charged with Possession of Firearm, Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Firearm to Endanger Life, and Possession of Ammunition to Endanger Life when he appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner Bruce and his daughter were seated in a vehicle at Sparrow Street, Barataria at around 7:10am on Wednesday October 11th when they were approached by two masked men armed with guns who shot at the vehicle.
Days after the shooting, police seized several illegal firearms and ammunition in the Santa Cruz forest.
