Students and teachers of the Providence Girls’ Catholic School in Belmont had to be evacuated from the premises on Thursday morning. This, following reports that a man with a firearm was seen running through the school yard.
Initial accounts indicate, police received a call that an armed man was seen on the school’s compound.
When police visited the scene, the school’s principal, Kirsal Gorin, said she was in her office when she heard her students screaming out.
Ms. Gorin said the students stated they observed a man running through the school yard, bare-backed and bloodied, wearing a pair of joggers.
The officers made checks around the school but no suspects were found on the compound.
The school has since been evacuated.
Police are continuing investigations.
