Scrap Metal Bill Laid In Parliament

The Scrap Metal Bill has been officially laid in the Parliament by Attorney General Reginald Armour, with the next stage of the Bill to be carried out next Wednesday.

Answering questions prior, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley told Opposition members that no set date had been confirmed for the lifting of the export ban on scrap metals. He rejected the notion that the ban would come to an end on December 31st, adding that it would be lifted when that Bill is passed and assured that it would be before the end of 2022 as promised.

On November 25th, Attorney General Reginald Armour announced Government’s intention to lift the ban on the export of scrap metals, but noted that there would still be restrictions on copper until further notice.
