The residents of one Senior Citizens Home in Port of Spain had the opportunity to share a meal with President Christine Kangaloo and her husband, Kerwyn Garcia.
In the spirit of the season, the President and her husband treated the residents and staff of the All Saints’ Gordon Home to a festive Christmas repast on Thursday.
The meal of cranberry rosemary chicken, honey glazed ham, grilled fillet of fish with sorrel caper sauce, festive rice, herb roasted potatoes, stewed pigeon peas, pastelles and Christmas salad was followed by sorrel cheesecake and Trini fruit cake.
The event took place on Thursday on the compound of the All Saints Anglican Church, Port of Spain.
Prepared by the chefs from President’s House, the meal was served to residents by President Kangaloo and Mr. Garcia.
Mr. Garcia also had a special treat for the residents. Assisted on vocals by Warrant Officer Justin Lezama and guitarist Lieutenant Kieron Valere, the First Gentleman put on a spirited performance of Sugar Aloes’s ‘Come Go’ and Scrunter’s ‘Homemade Wine’ to the delight of the guests who tapped their feet and sang along.
