Sign Language For All

“Sign Language rights for all” is the cry of the Trinidad and Tobago Association for the Hearing Impaired (TTAHI).

Speaking through an interpreter during the NOW Morning Show on Tuesday, Vice President of TTAHI, Stephen Dookhran, said his hope is that the Government puts more focus on the access of services for the improvement, specifically for the deaf and hearing-impaired community.

He encouraged persons to learn sign language, just as the prevalence of learning Spanish or French. Mr. Dookhran also made a call to make education more inclusive for persons who are deaf or hearing impaired.

September 19th to 25th is dedicated as the International Week of the Deaf 2022 in Trinidad and Tobago in collaboration with the World Federation of the Deaf. Activities will focus on giving advice, counselling, and information regarding understanding sign language rights.
