Celebrating 75 years with the construction of a brand new, state-of-the-art building.
The Antilles Employees Credit Union turned the sod for the building at the same location as their current location, Vessigny Village, La Brea.
Councillor for Brighton/La Brea, Jillon Lewis, said this event signifies growth of the institution and the community it serves.
“Today, we are not just breaking ground. We are planting the seeds of growth, progress, and a stronger financial future for our members and our community. For 75 years, the Antilles Employees Credit Union has been a pillar of financial support, offering a foundation upon which individuals and families can build their dreams.”
President of the Antilles Employees Cooperative Society Limited, Fabian Joseph, said construction is expected to start in the last quarter of 2025 and will cost just over $8 million.
“We have designed a state-of-the-art building, which we expect to commence later this year. What we’re doing, we’re already in the process of putting down a temporary facility where our staff will move from that existing building, which we are situated right here, and there would be housed on that temporary facility and from then we would start the construction of this flagship building in the back. The building is designed to provide all amenities we would have, improve technology. What we are going to do is provide a space where members can be much more comfortable. As you know, a building that is 75 years old doesn’t provide us with the kind of space and the outfit that is significant with what augurs well for today.”
The temporary container facility will be ready for use in July 2025.
