Soldier Arrested With Firearm

A soldier was among three persons arrested in anti-crime exercises on Friday, where three firearms were also seized. The 22-year-old serving member of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment attached to Camp La Romain, was arrested when his vehicle was intercepted by police after he refused to adhere to a stop and search exercise along Mendez Drive, Samaroo Village, Arima.

A search was conducted and a revolver with six rounds of .38 ammunition was allegedly found. Two male suspects were also detained by police who also allegedly recovered one Beretta nine-millimetre pistol with 16 rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition after an attempted robbery in Cunupia. And police officers also allegedly found a revolver along with six rounds of .38 ammunition in some bushes at Shende Street Extension in San Juan.
