Anthony ‘Squeezy Rankin’ La Fleur is the 2025 Young King.
On Tuesday, eighteen calypsonians competed against each other at the National Action Cultural Committee (NACC) Young Kings Calypso Monarch Competition.
However, it was La Fleur who captured this year’s crown with the hit song ‘Justice,’ which addressed many of the issues plaguing society. In his live performance, he adjusted the lyrics to include possible solutions to those issues.
Placing second was Kyle ‘KC’ Cowie, with his performance of ‘Western Town.’ In third place was Muhammad Muwakil of Freetown Collective, performing ‘Take Me Home.’
According to the NACC, this year’s event represented a proud moment for the competition as it celebrated its 40th anniversary.
