St. George’s College in Barataria will remain closed while work to repair a damaged sewer-line is undertaken.
Minister of Education, Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, gave an update on the situation during response to a question in the Parliament on Friday.
“St. George’s College was one of an estimated six schools which experienced sewer difficulties in the past week. In the case of St. George’s College, the damage that occurred was a severe choke on November 13th, and the school was closed early to safeguard the health and safety of the staff and students.”
The Education Minister said the scope of the repair works have been approved and a contractor should be awarded on Monday. She indicated the work is estimated to take between two and three days to be completed.
