Cotton candy, popcorn, bouncy castles, face painting, and go carts.
Those were just a few of the exciting activities and goodies that students from Primary Schools across Trinidad were treated to as President Christine Carla Kangaloo hosted her second Annual Christmas Party on Tuesday.
Primary School teacher at Paramin Roman Catholic School, Bernadine Nicholas, said her students were overjoyed to be invited to the President’s House.
“We were very happy because we didn’t think we would be invited to the President’s House to attend a party so we were very happy, very ecstatic, especially when the children heard we were coming to the President’s House. I’m sure they might not have an opportunity again like this so we were very happy to be here.”
Teacher 1 at the School for Blind Children, Tricia Bruce-Phillip, said it was an incredible feeling to know that her students were included in the activities.
“I know years ago the school had that experience, like before my time even, and it had stopped a while now so this generation getting the opportunity to go out and even mingle with other schools, it’s a real awesome feeling.”
Although it was a rainy day, Acting Senior teacher at Bamboo Grove Presbyterian, Rick Cadan, said not even that could have spoiled the festivities.
“As they say in Trinidad, rain only stops cricket. Rain doesn’t even stop cricket or it only stops cricket actually. So besides that we’re good to go for now.”
Fifteen Primary Schools and Non-Government Organisations were invited to the event, including Beetham Government, the Down’s Syndrome Family Network, Audrey Jeffers School for the Deaf, Parlatuvier AC, and Spring Village Hindu School to name a few.
