Various agencies have been deployed to support truckers and other passengers on board the cargo ferry, the Cabo Star.
This, after spending more than 12 hours at sea after a fire in the engine room late on Wednesday night.
The news came from Deputy Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, Dr. Faith B Yisreal, this afternoon. Dr. B Yisreal, noting the uncomfortable situation, said the THA ensured the welfare needs of the passengers were met on the vessel.
The vessel docked at the Scarborough Port just after 5pm. Passengers who disembarked were checked by medical personnel, and fire officers are on the vessel conducting investigations.
Earlier, the Port Authority said following repair works, the service will resume only when the vessel has been certified safe to operate and during that period, vehicles weighing up to 7,000kgs will be transported on the APT James, Buccoo Reef, and Galleons Passage, based on the availability of space.
