Unconfirmed reports suggest that a suspect in the murder of Police Constable Clarence Gilkes has indicated his willingness to surrender to Police in order to clear his name but is afraid to do so.
Acting Commissioner of Police Mc Donald Jacob, at a press conference on Sunday, explained that the man’s request will be facilitated and urged his representative to contact 483-1170 to 1174 to have this arranged.
According to reports, at about 3 p.m. on Friday, officers of the Western Division Task Force looking for a man wanted by police went with a search warrant to Richplain Road, Diego Martin where they encountered heavy gunfire. PC Gilkes was hit in the crossfire.
