New World T20 Champions India were left to experience Hurricane Beryl in Barbados after flights in and out of Bridgetown were cancelled.
The Indian team is set to fly home via a chartered flight on Tuesday evening after Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley said she expected the airport to become operational mid-afternoon on Tuesday, ending the shutdown forced by the Category 4 hurricane.
The T20 World Cup-winning squad, its support staff, some BCCI officials, and the players’ families, along with some members of the broadcast team weathered the storm for the past two days.
Life-threatening winds and storm surges lashed Barbados and nearby islands on Monday, and they have been in lockdown since Sunday.
