Trinidad Cement Limited confirms an investigation has been launched into a fatal accident at one of their facilities.
The company says they are fully cooperating with the relevant authorities after 39 year old widower and father of three, Garvin Ramoutar, was crushed to death while at his job in Mayo, South Trinidad earlier today.
According to one relative, Davika, the labourer with Trinidad Cement Limited left for work as usual on Tuesday night but they didn’t think it would be the last time they would see him alive.
The family has had to deal with several tragedies in the last few years. First, Garvin lost his wife Julie in a vehicular accident, his father, Anand, died just five months ago, and relatives expressed concern over how their ill mother is dealing with his death.
Davika described Garvin as quiet and loving. The incident involving apparatus at the TCL Compound is said to have taken place around 4am on Wednesday.
TCL says they remain in contact with the family and are doing everything they can to support them during this difficult time.
