A woman is dead after the car in which she was a passenger crashed into a light pole on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as Kaylee Poonan.
According to reports, Poonan was a passenger in a vehicle travelling north along the Sir Solomon Hochoy highway near the Papouri overpass when the red Mitsu-bishi Lancer that was being driven by Navin Bedassie crashed into an electricity pole.
Highway patrol officers and fire services responded and found Poonan and Bedassie trapped inside the vehicle.
Bedassie was extracted from the vehicle and taken to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Kaylee Poonan died at the scene.
