The Lost Tribe Triumphs In 2025 With ‘Lost In Time’ And Hat Trick Win

The Lost Tribe’s anniversary celebrations reached new heights on Ash Wednesday.

As the band marks a decade of visionary mas, it also celebrated a remarkable hat trick, winning the title of Senior Band of the Year once again.

Its 2025 portrayal, ‘Lost in Time,’ captivated not only the judges but also the spectators both on the road and at home.

Defending Lost Tribe’s reign, the senior band’s Design Lead and Co-Founder, Valmiki Maharaj, revealed that this year’s designs were meant to offer a reflection of Trinidad and Tobago.

“This year, when they met on the stage, Time is chastising Carnival and saying, ‘What wrong with you, girl? Why do you believe in them over and over? Why do you believe in them and they’re fighting? Why do you believe in them and they’re beating women? Why do you believe in them and they’re full of dictators?’ And every single thing he tells her, she has a retort for, where after four and half minutes on the Savannah stage, she’s able to say, ‘Why do I believe in humanity? I believe in them because they are powered by love.'”

The Lost Tribe’s Camp Manager, Josanne Hackshaw Mitchell, said the past decade has been one of growth, lessons, and success.

“It has been so, so fulfilling to witness the growth of the designers, the growth of Val, the growth of even the committee members because some of them came on when they were in their teens and they are big people now, and it is so beautiful to see the growth and the transition.”

Acquiring 1,324 points for victory, the band demonstrated their ongoing commitment to showcasing Trinidad and Tobago’s cultural heritage through creative costume design and artistic expression.
