Through a mixture of dance, drama, music, digital technology, and film, Tobagonians were urged to understand and protect the island’s stories with focus on the great Silk Cotton Tree.
On Friday, the Tobago Heritage Festival kicked off in the usual captivating style with the Opening Night Production entitled “Treasures Of The Tree” at the Shaw Park Cultural Complex. THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine noted that it is a fitting story line.
Through two curious brothers, Noel and Monty Quashie, and their grandmother, attendees were taken on a journey highlighting the rich legacy of the Silk Cotton Tree which enabled them to look beyond myths.
Secretary for Tourism, Tashia Grace Burris, in speech band style, declared the Festival open.
The Festival continues tonight with the Miss Heritage Personality Competition.
