Economist Dr. Vanus James’ recent characterisation of Tobago as a failed State is based on the basic concepts of production and consumption.
Dr. James’ comment came after Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Chief Secretary Farley Augustine presented a $3.97 billion budget.
Dr. James is positive that Tobago can develop, as it is part of a twin island nation state. However, he believes as we build the T&T national economy, investments well expended and placed could bolster Tobago wealth.
He also added that there is a lot of potential for development as we move from oil and gas, such as expansion in tourism, health care, the export of teaching services, and even in a year-round Creative Industry product.
