Trinidad and Tobago and Brazil marked sixty years of diplomatic relations by signing a letter of intent to enhance bilateral cooperation in several key areas, including an air transport agreement.
Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr. Amery Browne said both Trinidad and Tobago and Brazil, in their pursuit of broader diplomatic relations are looking to enhance their areas of cooperation.
“Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago share a number of principles in common, in particular, a focus on peace and development; a focus on South South collaboration; a focus in ensuring that the Caribbean sea remains and is maintained as a zone of peace; a focus on health care for all our people.”
Minister Browne said sports and culture are two of the areas that both countries are exploring for further cooperation.
“We’ve also discussed the potential for tourism linkages between Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago and the importance of building better air connections between both of our capitals. And their are many other areas for expansion and additional work.”
Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, is counting on this country to participate in the Conference of Parties thirty (COP30) of the United Nations Framework agreement on climate change.
“It’s a great pleasure to be here to explore the possibilities of cooperation in different areas that we have such as health, education, food security and climate change and so many others. We can also exploit the possibilities of cooperation in the areas of energy, which are very important.”
COP30 will take place in Brazil in the latter half of 2025.
