Trinidad and Tobago’s Beach Soccer Men opened with a hard fought win to advance to the Semis of the ANOC World Beach Games Qualifiers in El Salvador last evening.
Bahamas broke the deadlock in the eighth minute through Wood Julmis but T&T drew level just before the break. After the resumption, Hakeem King’s deft chip gave T&T the go ahead.
T&T took a 3-1 lead when goalkeeper Jabari Gray found the net courtesy a devious bounce. Gavin Christie made things interesting with a late goal, but T&T persevered to claim the W with a 3-2 victory.
T&T’s women gave a valiant effort against the hosts in their opening match.
After going behind in the third minute, Aliyah Prince and Tsai-anne Fernandez gave T&T the lead.
However, a second third flurry saw El Salvador eventually run away 5-2 winner.
The men will play the USA in the Semi Finals, while the women have the USA women’s team to contend with in their second match.
