The National Women’s Netball Team went down by 76 to 27 at the hands of New Zealand in the Netball World Cup opening match in Cape Town South Africa today.
It was a tough opening day for the Calypso Girls as they were on the back foot from the onset. Team Trinidad and Tobago were outscored 23 to 2 in the first, 20 to 9 in the second, 15 to 9 in the third, and 18 to 7 in the fourth and final quarter losing by 49 points.
Afeisha Noel and Joelissa Cooper led the T&T scoring with 17 and 10 goals respectively.
The Calypso Girls will be in action again on Saturday when they come up against Singapore.
